Introducing ‘Damsel in Distress’

Introducing ‘Damsel in Distress’

Posted by Brooke Miles Ogden on

Damselfish are a really cool and fun species of tiny fish!

Also called Sergeant Major fish, these little scaly friends grow to only 9inches and are found in reef systems all around the world. But for many, they call the Great Barrier Reef home.

I have to admit I do love swimming with these little guys! They seemingly love to be around humans and don't mind getting close to us.

Or they could be acting territorial, either way they're a bit of fun and completely harmless.

Plus, I'm pretty sure they see their reflection in the dome port of my underwater camera and this increases their inquisitiveness. They literally come up and ‘kiss’ me!

I named this print ‘Damsel in Distress’ because whenever I swim or dive with Damsel's around, they surround me and dart around quickly in circles! It’s like they’re on a mission or in distress! (But of course I hope not)

This image made me feel like they were perfectly, yet imperfectly, aligned to the lens. Like they knew it was their turn to show off. Like they were really posing for the camera!

I hope you like this one too :)
