Our Commitment To Sustainability

At Above and Below Gallery, we believe that art and nature are deeply connected.

And as a humble curator of the beauty found in Australia’s landscapes and oceans, I know that preserving the environment is crucial.

This awareness shapes what we do, from the business decisions we make to the materials we use, to the ways we give back.

A little more about how we choose to do better…

Reusable & Recycled Packaging

We’re dedicated to minimising waste by reusing boxes and packaging materials whenever possible. When new packaging is necessary, we opt for recyclable and eco-friendly alternatives.

Recycling

Sustainability drives our production process. We recycle all eligible materials, including paper, cardboard, and plastics, to reduce our impact on the environment.

100% Recyclable Metal Prints

Our metal prints are created with the environment in mind. The Chromolux aluminium we use is 100% recyclable, allowing us to offer high-quality, long-lasting art that doesn’t contribute to landfill waste.

Post-Recycled Marketing

For brochures and marketing materials, we use 100% post-recycled paper.

Compostable Bubble Wrap

We mainly reuse packaging materials to reduce waste further, however when new wrap is required, we choose to use compostable bubble wrap.

Sustainability of Silk

Silk is a natural, renewable resource that requires less water and energy to produce than many synthetic fabrics. As a biodegradable material, silk aligns with our sustainability values, making it a conscious choice for our luxurious scarves and sarongs.

Fine Art Photographic Prints

Our photo prints are made from 100% cotton rag, the most sustainable and compostable option when it comes to photo papers. Cotton rag paper is made from linters, a recycled byproduct of the cotton industry, meaning it has a low environmental impact and helps reduce waste in textile production. These papers are also recyclable.

1% for the Planet Membership

As proud members of 1% for the Planet, we donate 1% of our total revenue—not just profits!

Each year we get to choose which environmental organisation we want this donation to go to. This global network of businesses give back to the earth, supporting projects that help sustain and preserve ecosystems, wildlife, and natural resources. So every purchase you make helps us contribute directly to these efforts.

Healthy Heart Reef Partner

Our commitment to protecting Australia’s oceans is further emphasised by our Healthy Heart Reef Partner Accreditation. Through a thorough audit we have determined our current emissions and have put in measures to reduce this each year.

(Our current emissions are below average by the way #yeah! )

This partnership reflects our dedication to preserving our planet earth, and within her the Great Barrier Reef and its vital ecosystems, ensuring its health and beauty for future generations to enjoy.

Our Sustainability Promise

We know that sustainability is a journey. At Above and Below Gallery, we’re constantly seeking new ways to minimise our environmental footprint. From eco-friendly packaging to our support for impactful environmental initiatives, we are committed to leaving a lighter footprint while sharing the beauty of the world through our art.
