Charlie Boy
Description
Maori wrasse are famous for their friendly curiosity, and Charlie Boy was no exception, darting and weaving in front of my camera, always keeping a keen eye on the lens.
They definitely missed the “personal space” memo!
These remarkable fish are not only charming, but biologically fascinating too. Maori wrasse are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they start life as females and, as they grow and mature, some transition into males, a fascinating adaptation that helps maintain balance within their reef communities.
Captured at Hardy Reef in the Great Barrier Reef, this image shows Charlie Boy’s playful personality and vibrant colours, as well as a glimpse into the unique life of one of the reef’s most captivating residents.
A print that brings both charm and a touch of marine science into your home!
This print is a limited edition and will only have 200 copies printed.
