Description
Captured in the crystal-clear waters of Tonga, this humpback whale mother and calf shared a joyful, playful moment. Gliding, circling, and gently twirling around one another. You can see why I called it Playtime.
It’s the kind of interaction that stops you, to take a breath, and ask, was this a real moment? It's equal parts powerful and tender.
Witnessing this bond in the wild was unforgettable, but being able to preserve it so perfectly on camera felt like a real win.
I was thrilled to receive a silver award for this image at the 2018 QLD AIPP Professional Photography Awards. Silver awards were not given out lightly at the APPAs, so I was pretty chuffed when this print received such a high score!
