Description
Caught in his own world, this green sea turtle glides effortlessly along the reef bed at Hardy Reef, part of the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, just 70 km from the Port of Airlie in Airlie Beach.
On the day I captured this image, he was cruising past on his way to the far side of the lagoon - destination unknown, but completely at ease in his ocean home.
Swimming nearby, I was struck by his calm confidence and effortless grace. He didn’t seem to mind my presence… though he didn’t linger for long.
In that brief moment, I was able to capture the fluid motion, vibrant colours, and quiet personality of one of the reef’s most enchanting residents.
