Above and Below Gallery Takes Home GOLD at the Whitsunday Tourism Awards!

We're incredibly excited to share that Above and Below Gallery has taken home GOLD in the Retail & Services category at the 2026 Whitsunday Tourism Awards!

It's a pretty special feeling to have the work we do recognised within our local tourism industry, and we couldn't be happier.

Since opening our doors in 2017, the idea behind Above and Below Gallery has always been simple: to share the incredible beauty of the Whitsundays, the Great Barrier Reef and the wider world through art that means something.

with a serious love for the ocean! I wanted to create a space where people could find beautiful, locally created artwork and gifts that captured the places and experiences they fell in love with whilst visiting our region.

Today, the gallery brings together my own photography, from the iconic swirling sands of Hill Inlet and the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef to the incredible marine life found beneath the surface, alongside a carefully curated range of art-inspired gifts.

We're proud to be an independent, artist-owned gallery, creating and producing our artwork here in Queensland and offering something a little different from the usual holiday souvenirs.

Of course, building a small business comes with its challenges, and there have been plenty of ups and downs along the way. That's why an award like this means so much. It's recognition for all the hard work that happens behind the scenes, the passion that drives what we do, and the people who help make it all happen that make this award so meaningful. 

A huge thank you to my wonderful team, Katie, Kerry, Susan and Eira - absolute superstars! 

Also to our loyal customers and collectors, the locals who continue to support us, and the visitors who choose to take a little piece of the Whitsundays home with them. Your support genuinely means the world to us.

And congratulations to all the other winners and finalists. We're lucky to be part of such a creative and passionate tourism and business community.

I'll keep doing what I love: capturing this incredible part of the world, creating beautiful artwork, and sharing a different perspective of the Whitsundays and beyond.
