Close Quarters - Black and White Print
Description
When the racing gets tight, things start to look very different from above. Here the centred three yachts are working their way through the course, sails full and close enough to make every move count.
I photographed this scene from a door-off helicopter during Airlie Beach Race Week, looking straight down as the yachts moved through the Whitsunday waters. From this perspective, the boats and their sales become almost graphic against the island backdrop.
The darker black and white edit adds a little drama and gives the image an old-school sailing photograph feel.
As a print, Close Quarters brings movement, contrast and a classic maritime feel into your space.
